German punk rock legends DONOTS hit the German album charts at #1 with their latest record „Heut ist ein guter Tag” With 12 studio albums, various tv/radio hit singles and award nominations in the books, German punk rock legends DONOTS have not only been an acclaimed household name and a fixed landmark in the worldwide punk scene for almost 3 decades – they still manage to excel themselves with every new release and extend their worldwide fanbase after a mere 1400 shows in 22 countries.
It comes as no surprise that their latest album „Heut ist ein guter Tag“ („Today is a good day“) takes the band to yet the next level of greatness: February 2023 saw their first #1 record in the German album charts after some 29 years. What’s most impressive: The sympathetic, hard working five-piece managed to hit the pole position of the charts with their own indie label Solitary Man Records (founded as an intercontinental record label in Japan in 2005 after major success in Nippon). The band joined forces with Warner distribution for said endeavour after working together with labels such as Universal, Sony/BMG or Burning Heart Records in the past.
DONOTS are renowned for super catchy, uplifting posi punk rock anthems, amazing songwriting skills paying tribute to classic punk, indie rock and 80s pop with a fresh and unique appropach, clever lyrics in both English and German, taking social and political action for a better world and most of all being one of the very best, most intense, entertaining and stunning live bands on the planet.
What’s more: Ingo, Alex, Guido, Purgen and Eike have been touring and collaborating with various big names of the scene such as Green Day, Die Toten Hosen, Rise Against, Die Ärzte, Frank Turner, Billy Talent, Bad Religion, Flogging Molly, Rancid and many more. Their songs have been used for several TV, video game and film productions and only recently the band started hosting their own punk rock radio show on Germany’s biggest rock radio station: Radio BOB. Today’s a good day for the DONOTS for sure.
